The tram was put in assistance in 1992 on typical gauge track with modern day automobiles, connecting Sirkeci with Topkapi. The line was extended on one finish from Topkapi to Zeytinburnu in March 1994 and, on one other stop from Sirkeci to Eminönü in April 1996.
